Department of Development and Policy Studies (Proposed):

Teaching and research activities of our proposed “Department of Development and Policy Studies (DODAPS)” cover a wide range of development studies, with particular strengths in the analysis of public policy, poverty and exclusion, livelihood dynamics (rural and urban), globalization, governance, environment, micro-enterprise, finance, project and policy management. DODAPS is committed both to integrating economic and to other social science perspectives on development and to reducing rich-poor divisions in the analysis of contemporary policy issues.

Activities of DODAPS concentrate on research and analysis based programs like internship, short-term projects, seminars, weekly colloquium series, field visits, workshops and conferences, production and discussion of papers and administration of research projects. The Department would be interacting with national/international academic institutions to develop joint research and study programs at postgraduate level. DODAPS is supposed to initiate various courses on development and policy studies for undergraduate and graduate students. The Department will initially offer at least two master degree programs, namely Master in Development and Policy Studies (DPS) and Master in Rural Development (MRD). The scope of studies will be enhanced further to start Master in Development Studies (MDS), Master in Policies Studies (MPS) and a Joint Degree Program in Development and Policy Studies (JDPS) with foreign collaborators.

The design of the CORDAPS covers following study programs:

  • BS Economics with Minor in Development Studies (DS)
  • MS Economics with Major in Policy Studies (PS)
  • MS in Development and Policy Studies (DPS)
  • MS in Rural Development
  • International Master in Development and Policy Studies
  • Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in DPS
  • Executive Training Program and workshops for professional in DPS.
